I'm a long way away from where I was born and grew up. It's interesting how things happen, and one decision or event leads to the next phase of your life. Sometimes it feels natural and sometimes you're not sure why your path takes a different direction than you thought it would or you planned.
I was born and raised in Sweden, surrounded by lakes and forests, with snow covered winters and summers of eternal sunshine. If someone would have told me then that one day I'd live in Arizona I definitely wouldn't have believed it! But here I am - embracing the Sonoran Desert and all the things about it that still feels so very exotic to me. I will give you the short version of how I came here and how I became a photographer...
I moved from Sweden to New Orleans in my 20's to study jazz vocals at the University. It was fabulous and inspiring, and I loved it! I met a fellow musician at the University, and we fell in love, got married and a few years later we had 2 beautiful daughters.
I have always, since I can remember, loved photography and I would bring my Canon film camera with me while traveling through Europe during the summers.
I'd photograph picturesque villages in the Greek islands, La Sagrada Familia - by Architect Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona and castles in Scottland. When my first daughter was born, my love for photography became all about photographing all the magical moments of her. And a few years later of her baby sister as well. My lens was drawn to them, and I learned by trial and error how to capture incredible photographs of my daughters. Once I got the hang of it, I had people asking to schedule photo sessions with me. I began photographing for clients in New Orleans and built a clientele for my newborn/family photography niche. Things were going well, my clients were overjoyed, and my business was growing.
When Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans in 2005, we evacuated and ended up moving to Tucson, AZ.
Once settled in Tucson, I slowly rebuilt my portrait photography business here for a few years, then took a break and worked as a photographer for other companies and later worked in management.
I am now back in full swing capturing special moments for my clients and creating captivating branding and product images for businesses.
My beautiful daughters who inspired me to pursue a career as a photographer and still continue to do so are now in their 20's - time flies! And over the years I've deepened my skills and knowledge of the art of photography, my style continually evolves, and I love every minute behind the lens!
I'm available for photo sessions in Tucson, AZ and surrounding area and will travel for the right project.
